Having completed a number of projects creating bedspreads for boutique hotels in Britain, Emma and Harriet were commissioned to design bed runners for a new hotel in Portugal. Based at the most southerly point of Europe, and in a glorious expanse of the National Park, Hotel Martinhal stands like a sentinel looking out to sea. Wallace Sewell took inspiration from the work of fellow product designers, such as Michael Sodeau’s wicker lamp shades, and the coastal landscape to produce bedspreads with shades of blue, sea-green and sand-gold.
