'A Day to Remember'

'A Day to Remember'

Fifteen leading textile designers, including Wallace Sewell, were invited to pay tribute to one of Britain's greatest designers by customising Robin Day's iconic 675 chair.

Initiated by Case Furniture in partnership with Heal's and the Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation, the project entitled 'A Day to Remember', will help improve the future of emerging British designers by supporting the educational work of the Foundation through an exhibition and live online auction.

We selected one of our ‘Pinstripe’ throw designs to develop for the project: the juxtaposition of fine lines and bold shapes echo similar elements in both the 675 chair and the abstract patterning of Lucienne’s designs. The colour palette is inspired by her use of ‘near’ primaries on a coloured monochrome background. The woven fabric was then felted and pressed to provide heavier weight wool for upholstery.

We were honoured to be included in such talented company as this: Eleanor Pritchard, Donna Wilson, Charlene Mullen, Cristian Zuzunaga, Wallace & Sewell, Eley Kishimoto, Hannah Waldron, Beatrice Larkin, Catherine MacGruer, Darkroom, Bill Amberg, Stitch by Stitch, Margo Selby, David Irwin and Christopher Farr.

You can view all 15 bespoke designs in the three-week window display and in-store presentation at Heal’s flagship store on Tottenham Court Road, London, from 1st to 21st August 2019, or the online auction goes live on Jumblebeetoday.  All proceeds will be donated to the charity.
