New Printed Silk Scarves Two new designs for summer 2022

Our collection of Silk Scarves has two new designs - Medici and Byzantine - launching today!

These luxurious and versatile silk squares feature printed designs inspired by macro details from our iconic woven patterns, delicately painted by Emma using watercolours. Digital printing captures every brushstroke so you will be wearing a work of art! Lightweight crepe de chine ensures a beautiful drape and a luxurious silky feel - perfect for summer.

The inspiration for our collection of printed silk scarves came from Emma and her love of a vintage 'foulard', often picked up in Italian antique stores or hand-me-downs from her mum and granny!

Emma let us take a peek in her studio as she developed these designs from the initial woven samples to the finished painting...First, she studies woven fabric we have already designed and produced, looking for interesting motifs and patterns at a macro scale. A card template helps to isolate specific areas so they can be viewed as pieces in their own right.

The woven pattern is then translated into a painted composition and the tiny motifs become large focal points of the design. Emma uses watercolours in the design process of these products as they give a fluid and delicate impression, and you can build up tones subtly.

Digital printing maintains these original painterly strokes, so there is still a connection with the artist in the final product. The natural sheen of silk makes the colours extra fresh and vibrant!

With five designs in this collection, our Printed Silk Scarves are very versatile and can be worn and styled in lots of ways - a neckerchief simply tied or fixed with a pin, draped around the shoulders, twisted into a headband, folded into a headscarf, even used as a colourful belt or hip scarf. How will you wear yours?
