Wallace Sewell for Designtex
Wallace Sewell fans will know that as well as producing our own retail collections, we also work with other like-minded brands as guest designers, bringing our knowledge and love of colour to different collections.
Since 2014, we have worked with Designtex, a New York-based company who design and manufacture applied materials for the built environment. For over sixty years, they have been inspired to improve how materials fit into life and enhance the human experience, and solve problems through better design. They have always been an innovative and forward-thinking studio so we jumped at the chance to work with them on an initial upholstery fabric collection.
This has grown into a long-lasting and exciting partnership as guest designers for Designtex on six distinctive ranges - from over-sized checks and bold stripes, to more subtle and playful designs. - our unique approach to colour, combined with Designtex's expertise in construction and performance have pushed what’s possible in upholstery textiles.
Launched this week, our latest collections for Designtex are
'River Lea' and 'The Thames'
River Lea is a fine, pinstripe while The Thames is composed of bolder and thicker stripes. They are offered in intentionally coordinated colourways so you can easily co-ordinate and mix across the two designs.
The Wallace Sewell design team took inspiration from the natural world around them, defining colour palettes with watercolour paintings. Many, many yarn windings were produced, exploring the balance and weight of stripes
River Lea and The Thames join our previous collections: Myddleton, Clerkenwell, Amwell and Cubitt , all available to browse on the new, restyled Designtex website. Suitable for all types of upholstery projects, these fabrics are high-performance, hard-wearing and beautiful to touch.
Trade and Contract customers can purchase directly from Designtex and their international network of representatives - you can find out more here.
