Wallace Sewell + Justine Tabak: A Friendship Woven into Knitwear
Our creative collaboration with clothing designer Justine Tabak has grown out of years of friendship, shared countryside walks, and a mutual love of colour, craftsmanship and British-made quality. With our backgrounds in fashion and textile design, each piece we create together is a joyful fusion of our strengths, timeless silhouettes from Justine, brought to life with Wallace Sewell’s distinctive approach to pattern and palette.
Project One: The Fair Isle Jumper (2019)
Our first collaboration was inspired by the classic British Fair Isle knit, a nod to heritage craft, reimagined with contemporary colour. Based on Justine’s relaxed jumper design, we developed a new Fair Isle pattern drawn from our own woven motifs. Made in Scotland using JC Rennie Shetland yarn, these jumpers are as practical as they are beautiful, tested on a walking trip through the Lake District by Emma and Justine themselves!
Project Two: The Fair Isle Cardigan (2020)
Following the success of the jumpers, our second knitwear release saw the return of the Fair Isle pattern in a flattering, fitted cardigan shape. Trimmed with soft ribbon and fastened with delicate mother-of-pearl buttons, these 100% lambswool cardigans are knitted seamlessly for a sleek silhouette. With fresh colourways like Raspberry and Olive, they’re a cheerful staple for the cooler months.
Project Three: The Stripe Jumper (2021)
Launched to welcome the Autumn Equinox, our striped lambswool jumpers combine rich seasonal colours with a playful spirit. Knitted in Scotland in three unique colourways, Rose & Lichen, Lawn & Chocolate, and Denim & Rust – they’re cosy, soft, and designed to lift your wardrobe with unexpected combinations that reflect nature’s seasonal palette.
Project Four: The Fair Isle Tank (2022)
Most recently, we’ve reimagined the Fair Isle design again, this time as a soft, woollen tank top in a kaleidoscope of colour. Ideal for layering, these heirloom pieces celebrate the joyful possibilities of knitwear. From Liberty window shopping to sketching over coffee, the design process is deeply collaborative, and always full of colour and conversation. Like all our pieces, the tanks are made in Scotland using British wool, combining classic craftsmanship with a modern sensibility.
Slow Fashion, Fast Friends
This collaboration is rooted in friendship and a shared ethos: creating sustainable, slow-made pieces that stand the test of time. We both believe in working with local, family-run manufacturers, and designing garments that are meant to be loved and worn again and again.
