Persephone Books - Bespoke Silk Scarf

Persephone Books - Bespoke Silk Scarf

Wallace Sewell were delighted to collaborate with Persephone Books, a distinguished publisher dedicated to reviving overlooked fiction and non-fiction, primarily by women writers from the mid-20th century. Founded by Nicola Beauman and now run with her daughter Francesca, Persephone Books brings forgotten literary works to new audiences, publishing them in beautifully crafted editions. Each title features a signature grey cover, patterned endpapers inspired by female designers from the same era as the author, and a coordinating bookmark, making them both intellectually engaging and visually exquisite.

In celebration of the Persephone Festival, held in April 2024 in Bath, Wallace Sewell was invited to design an exclusive Wallace Sewell x Persephone Books scarf. This silk scarf reinterprets one of Wallace Sewell’s iconic woven patterns as a painting, brought to life through delicate brushstrokes from hand-painted watercolor compositions by Emma Sewell. Crafted from lightweight crepe de chine, it offers a beautiful drape and a luxurious feel.

The festival featured a rich and varied program, including talks, panel discussions, book groups, literary walks, film screenings, and concerts—offering attendees a chance to immerse themselves in the literary world of Persephone Books.
